Appraisals
Determining values of horses along with the related supplies and equipment based upon realistic market standards is critical to the equitable process. Many times the values of horses take on imaginary financial projections, realistic market standards must be applied for the breed, type, gender, age, performance record, event winnings, health condition, level of training, and overall behavior. An important consideration during the assessment is the value added. Value added being those additional factors above and beyond the average that contribute to the horse’s gross value. Market standards vary throughout the world, depending upon so many different factors. One of the most important factors contributing to the difficulty for a realistic evaluation is the influence of a breed’s popularity. Popularity drives the demand, and usually impacts upon the supply, hence driving the values upward with little or no true foundation. Fair market appraisals can be achieved through factual research, substantiated through public sources of documentation. Comparative pricing is generally a very good method to assist in the valuation process, however, in the horse business it is not always the simplest nor the most available method. Therefore, to realistically evaluate horses and their equipment requires knowledge and ability which spans many aspects of the horse business. At Diamond K Barrel Horses, an appraisal chart is utilized for accurate value pricing. Call Karol today at (830) 446-3669 to schedule your appraisal. -
Equine Sales Pricing
Please note that there are prices listed on these pages and that they are subject to change without notice. Prices on young horses almost invariably will go up in the spring and as they get continual training. Sometimes we can negotiate to a particularly good home - that is, one where the colt will be getting a chance to be successful in competition. Sometimes we can't do that; after all, our prices are very reasonable. We are not looking for trades at this time. We get frequent inquiries asking us to take payments on a horse. Our banker would like us to leave the banking business to him. We'll do everything we can to help you get your banker's approval. We are also happy to take credit cards - ask us how if you aren't familiar with this great service. We do require buyers to pay the credit fees. Our prices are FOB our ranch. While we will do everything we can to help with the travel arrangements, we generally cannot get away from the ranch long enough to make a long distance delivery. While fuel prices are so high, we are doing everything we can to keep our prices low enough that our customers can afford to ship their new purchase a long distance and still have a good horse for the money. -
